Attorney General supports commissioners

The Lyon County Commission did not violate the state Open Meeting law in regards to their vote to deny merit pay increases to non-association employees.

The Nevada Attorney General’s office on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 issued its opinion in regards to the Open Meeting Law violation complaint from Lyon County Sheriff Allen Veil.  Veil charged that Commission Chair Chuck Roberts did not allow an opportunity for public discussion prior to the September 20, 2012  vote.

The opinion stated that in listening to the tape of the issue in question, it confirmed that it was clear  “Chairman Roberts called for public comment.”
